This 200-year-old Lodgepole Pine Bonsai Tree, meticulously collected by the Backcountry Boys from the Rocky Mountains, is a testament to resilience and transformation. Housed in a Horst Heinzlreiter container and originally styled by Ryan Neil, this tree has overcome significant challenges to become a stunning example of bonsai artistry.

Originally a twin trunk, this Lodgepole Pine faced adversity when it lost its upper trunk to borers about four years ago. Left with only a sparse lower branch, it has been expertly transformed into a captivating cascading form. The tree’s dramatic turnaround is a result of careful compaction and the prolific backbudding that Lodgepole Pines are known for, allowing it to regain its splendor. The erratic and ornate deadwood at the top captures the rugged harshness of the Rocky Mountains, creating a unique and captivating design that reflects its wild origins.

Now thriving, this Lodgepole Pine shows rapid gains in canopy density and needle reduction, further enhancing its visual impact. It stands as a truly remarkable specimen and a rare find in the world of bonsai.
