This 65-year-old Lodgepole Pine Tree, expertly collected by Randy Knight from the rugged Rocky Mountains, is a striking example of bonsai artistry and natural beauty. Having been in training for four years, this tree was originally styled by renowned bonsai artist Ryan Neil and is currently housed in a distinguished Yamaaki container. The tree has undergone one repotting and is likely due for another within the next year or two to ensure its continued health and development.

This Lodgepole Pine is incredibly short and compact, with a distinctive branching structure that echoes the quirky irregularity often found in Japanese Red Pines. The tree’s remarkable bark and unique form embody the artistic desirability associated with such character, while also showcasing the distinctive expression of a native North American pine. Its current structure is ideally suited for evolving into a secondary phase of scaffolding expansion, which will encourage more aggressive back budding, increased density, and accelerated refinement.
